Victory in DC & Iowa!
Praise the Lord for last night’s stunning victories! As you are well aware, President Donald Trump not only won the electoral college, but as of this moment, he won the popular vote by almost 5 million. The blue wall of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin fell, and President Trump will again be President of the United States! In addition, Republicans gained control of the US Senate and, hopefully, the US House. As in 2016, we were again granted “a little space grace.” (Ezra 9:8) God is good! May we use this opportunity to further protect religious liberty and advance the Gospel. Please join me in fervent prayers for the President-Elect, his family, his administration, and our nation.
The victories were not limited to the federal government. Iowa also experienced an amazing night. Republicans went into election day with a 34-16 supermajority in the Iowa Senate and a 64-36 majority in the Iowa House. We woke up this morning to a 35, possibly 36-seat supermajority in the Senate and a 67, possibly 68-seat supermajority in the House.
Senate Republicans flipped two, possibly three, seats from blue to red, while Senate Democrats only changed one seat from red to blue. House Republicans flipped at least four, perhaps five, seats from Democrat to Republican, while House Democrats changed just one seat from Republican to Democrat. Additionally, Republicans kept control of 10 open seats: two in the Senate and eight in the House.
Time will tell, but the best news is that at least ten of the 16 new Republican legislators are known to have a biblical worldview.
Thank you to everyone who voted! Please join me in praying a prayer of gratitude to God for the results. May God continue to bless our efforts to preserve our liberty to proclaim and practice the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
